From 14 to 18 June, Veszprem, European capital of culture 2023, invites everyone to a five-day celebration in Veszprém and the Bakony-Balaton region to celebrate the first half of the ECoC programme year with a colourful programme cavalcade and prepare for the remaining six months of the title.

A delegation of tourism and culture experts from across Europe visited West Yorkshire to learn more about the district's key events and destinations, including Bradford 2025.

France and the Czech Republic are the countries that in 2028 will indicate the European capital of culture. The cities in shortlist are Czech Republic: Broumov and Budejovice; for France: Rouen, Bourges, Clermont-Ferrand, Montpellier.

Portugal is one of the two Member States that are eligible to host the European Capital of Culture in 2027. In total, 12 Portuguese cities participated in the first round of the competition, which started on 23 November 2020. Four cities were appointed to take part in the second round and, after the final hearings, the Panel of independent experts recommended the city of Évora for the title on 7 December 2022.

Liepāja and Évora, European Capitals of Culture in 2027, strengthen cooperation. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was held on 14 April, at 10 a.m., at the Palácio D. Manuel, in Évora, as part of the State Visit of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Latvia to Portugal.

Broumov and Budejovice are the cities in the Czech Republic that passed the preselection and entered the short list to become the European Capital of Culture for 2028. Brno, Liberec, Broumov and Budweis was the four cities candidate. The evaluation panel published the report explaining the decision to shortlist Broumov and Budejovice.

“Update”, a festival dedicated to moving image, will take place in Liepāja, European capital of culture 2027, and online from 27 to 31 March 2023, according to Maija Demitere, the representative of the organisers.

After a three-year hiatus, the extraordinary summer school is back. The Builder Summit, Hello Wood’s greatest-ever event, is organised with the support of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture and will be held in a post-apocalyptic basalt quarry in Hungary from 6-15 July.
