The end of 2024 is only a few months away. The same months until the end of the Leeds Capital of Culture year. For us at EcocNews, a true European Capital of Culture, independent of Brexit.
How was Elefsina transformed from “a town where passers-by look the other way”* into a European Capital of Culture (ECoC), setting new standards for the country’s cultural heritage? After Elefsina, which city will be the next Greek Capital of Culture? Is every city a potential Capital of Culture? Are there intermediate stages?
Veszprém and Bakony-Balaton region hosts the world: 29 cities from around the globe to be exact, throughout the year. Guest cities from Japan to Jamaica have 2 weeks to showcase their culture within the framework of Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture’s InterUrban event series, carried out by well connected Hangvető.
As part of the Timisoara 2023 cultural programme, the exhibition Light whispers in the silence by artists Dorian Bolca, Andrei Bucovanu, RIZI & Dorin Cucicov, Sergiu Doroftei, and Calin Topa will open on 10 October at 8pm at the the MV Sci-Art Cultural Center (Timișoara, bd. Mihai Viteazu, nr.1).
In support of Ukrainian culture EcocNews has launched a petition for one of the three European Capitals of Culture to be chosen in 2030. We have reached over 300 signatures, but the petition is still open and can be found here. Another even more important initiative in support of Ukrainian culture is ZMINA: Rebuilding.
