As part of the programme of Bad Ischl, European Capital of Culture 2024, an exhibition by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, organised with the support of Eu Japan fest, will open on 26 April.

For the first time, the European Capitals of Culture decided to officially present all together and in a symbolically very important place like the European Parliament, in Brussels.

Notre Dame is called the soul of Paris. This church is a place of identification for an entire country. As a result of the tragic fire in 2019, their bells have fallen silent. However, these bells were not damaged by the fire and quietly “listen” to the sounds of the city around Notre Dame. Silent Echoes: Notre Dame  is a continuously live-streamed sound sculpture that makes audible the simple physical fact that these bells are constantly ringing in secret.

Tourism in times of climate change – does it even make sense? And how can sustainable tourism succeed? The Interreg project “Alpine Region Worth Living” is intended to answer questions that are so important to Austria and Bavaria. It is run for three years under the leadership of the Johannes Kepler University Linz and is endowed with 1.1 million euros.

The European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 will be opened from 19 to 21 January 2024. For this opening, an art film project is being tendered, which will be part of the celebrations and ceremony on 20 January 2024.
