It has been almost a year since the Trencin2026 team, together with employees of the city of Trenčín, citizens, organizations and the involvement of the region, has been working on the city of Trenčín's candidacy for the European Capital of Culture for 2026.

In 2026 the title of European Capital of Culture will be assigned to Oulu, in Finland, and to a Slovak city. Nitra, Trenčín and Žilina- Beskids are the three cities shortlisted in the competition in Slovakia. The winning city is expected to be announced in December 2021. In meantime, let’s discover the projects concepts the three cities are working on.

The City of Lublin, 2023 European Youth Capital, in cooperation with the City of Vilnius, the Lithuanian Benediktas Gylys Foundation and the Centre of Intercultural Creative Initiatives “Crossroads”opens in new tab carry out an international project called Portal.

Team Trenčín 2026 Candidate for European Capital of Culture (Slovak republic) is looking for a Marketing manager and a social media manager. Deadline: 20th of June 2021.

In 2025, when Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture, the legendary International Peace Ride will be revived. The European Peace Ride project, which was developed as part of the application for the title, will start this year with one or two stages for ambitious recreational cyclists. The two stages will take 78 riders on 11 and 12 September 2021 over 413 kilometres and around 5500 metres of altitude difference from Chemnitz to Prague and back.

From 2017 the OPERA OPEN festival mounted a strong array of shows at the Ancient Theatre, presenting premieres, co-productions, and hybrid-genre projects. Opera Open welcomed, on the stage of the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, leading soloists of the largest opera and ballet companies.

i-Portunus Houses is open to hosts (organisation or established individual artists/cultural professionals) to team up with 2 to 5 artists and/or cultural professionals, legally residing in different Creative Europe countries + UK, with the intention to work together on one or more collaboration projects.

Sound Art Lab (SAL) is a new centre for artistic development in sound located in the City of Sound, Struer in Denmark. They offer 2 residencies for each 3 months during 2021. Sound Art Lab (SAL) is a laboratory for sound art established by Struer Municipality. They are located in former B&O facility that is presently being renovated and designed to support artistic projects in sound across disciplines and formats. 

Plovdiv 2019 has published on its website two open calls for artists and artist practitioners, related to the School of Participation project, supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and led by Walk the Plank.

The Asd Cultura e Sport Matera is an association from Matera, European Capital of culture 2019. They are submitting an application for the next call of the ERASMUS + SPORT program with the aim of promoting physical activity through European Traditional Sports and Games (ETSG).
