The presidents of the Parliament, the Council and the European Commission presented the joint declaration on the conference on the Future of Europe. The Joint Declaration on the Conference on the Future of Europe is very important for European cities and citizens and, in particular, for the European Capital of Culture program. The Declaration, in fact, enhances and strengthens the role of citizens for the dissemination of a European culture that overcomes nationalisms. But the word culture is missing. There is still time to rediscover it.

Light, a metaphor of life and rebirth. But also energy, fire, heat. Perhaps, for these reasons, many European capitals of culture have chosen to dedicate a space of their activities to this theme. Individual actions and artistic works, chapters, but also entire bidbooks are dedicated to light. Let's take a look at some of them.

From now on, the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl - Salzkammergut 2024 boldly calls itself “The Originals 2024” (“Die Originale 2024”). This brand offers all the freedom under which a diverse program can develop. At the same time, it reflects the region. The motto “No Copies * No Limits” shows that Die Originale 2024 is unique but does not close itself off. It has no boundaries.

Lublin (Poland), will be the 2023 European Youth Capital. The news was announced on Saturday, 27 February, by the European Youth Forum.

Esch, European Capital of Culture 2022 for Luxembourg, is looking for a socio-cultural mediator.

Žilina is a natural centre of north-western Slovakia and with a population of 84 604 inhabitants (as per December 31, 2010) it ranks among the largest cities in Slovakia. Žilina is situated around 200 km from Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.

Sweden and Poland are the countries that in 2029 will indicate the European capital of culture. Here are the first cities that have already announced their intention to apply:

Sweden: Malmö, Örebro, Jönköping; Poland: Białystok, Katowice.

The successful path of Matera 2019 and in particular its ability to involve the living strenght of the territory, stimulating the active participation of the public, were the focus of an online meeting dedicated to the teams of the Portuguese cities competing for the title of European capital of culture 2027.

France, the Czech Republic and Macedonia are the countries that in 2028 will indicate the European capital of culture. Here are the first candidate cities:

Czech Republic: Chomutov, Brno, Liberec, Broumov, Kutná Hora. France:  Reims, Rouen, Bourges, Clermont-Ferrand, Banlieue. Macedonia: Skopje.

From Friday, February 12, 2021 in the Export on the Delta, as part of the program Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture, the exhibition "Masks before masks" will be open.
