Four French cities have been shortlisted to become European Capital of Culture in 2028: Rouen, Montpellier, Clermont – Ferrand, Bourges.

The European Capital of Culture competition desired by the European Union is about to reach an important milestone: the 40th anniversary of its birth. In 2025 this competition will celebrate the so-called “Ruby Wedding” with European cities. Evora will be the European capital of culture for Portugal in 2027. This was announced today by the president of the evaluation panel, Beatriz Garcia, during a press conference in the presence of national, local and European institutional representatives.
