This autumn Trencin 2026 will launch Runway training programmes to help organise the European Capital of Culture project. They are starting with training for cultural managers who want to take their organisation or project to an international level.

The semester course Runway | Culture Professionals focuses on increasing competences in the field of cultural management and will take place in person over four weekends in Trenčín. Those who are interested can apply until 25 September here

"The European Capital of Culture requires projects and events that will stand up in an international environment. In order to be able to organise them in Trenčín, we are launching Runway educational programmes. Among the first we are opening a semester-long course for cultural managers, because they will be the key to organising events," explains Lucia Dubačová, director of the Trenčín 2026 project.

Who is this training suitable for?

The programme is designed for cultural managers from public and private organisations and institutions. It is suitable for beginners as well as for people with many years of experience in the field of culture. It is primarily aimed at people from Trenčín and the Trenčín Region, but not exclusively. The course will help to bring strategic planning, interdisciplinarity, sustainability and international context to an organisation or project. It also focuses on working with an audience and in a team.

"We plan to open the course annually, but only now we are offering it free of charge. We have space for 20 participants. Knowledge of the English language is necessary, because among the lecturers there will also be capacities from abroad," emphasises Dubačová, adding, "In parallel, we are also launching a free English language course for culture and tourism. The first year is already full, but those interested need not to worry, we will also repeat the language course every year."

The Trenčín 2026 project is financially supported by the City of Trenčín and the Trenčín Self-Governing Region. The project partner is the European Union.
