The Cáceres 2031 bid held a large-scale, intergenerational participatory event this Sunday, bringing together more than 200 people in the Plaza Mayor of Cáceres, consolidating the project as a space for real citizen involvement on the path to becoming the European Capital of Culture.

The choreographed flash mob, organized by Cáceres 2031 and entitled 'Cáceres Moves Europe', integrated young people, students from educational centers, members of social groups, and senior citizens into a single artistic proposal, reinforcing the community, intergenerational, and cross-cutting nature of the bid.

The cast consisted of 84 members of the Cáceres Dance Conservatory School, 54 students from confirmed educational centers, and around 90 people from senior citizen groups and physical activity programs, totaling over 220 participants, with ages ranging from 2 to 96 years old and in collaboration with the program ‘Exercise takes care of you’ of the Regional Government of Extremadura.

The choreography was set to the song “Extremadura,” performed live by singer Shara Pablos, Ambassador of Cáceres 2031, who granted the rights to use the song for this project-related activity. An adapted remix version was prepared for the occasion, facilitating the choreographic dynamics and collective participation.

The flash mob, also linked to Cáceres' designation as European City of Sport in 2026, culminated in a human formation that recreated the silhouette of the Bujaco Tower, a symbol present in the candidacy's visual identity, generating a powerful collective image that summarizes the spirit of the project: shared culture, participation, and the joint construction of the city.

The show has attracted the attention of locals and tourists and reinforces Cáceres 2031's commitment to activating public space as a cultural stage and to placing citizens —regardless of age— at the center of the process to achieve the title of European Capital of Culture.
