Matera 2019 continues to be a model for cities applying for the title of European Capital of Culture to study.  On 15 and 16 June, a delegation from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, after a stop in Rome at the Ministry of Culture, visited Matera to study the path of the European Capital of Culture in view of 2029, when a Polish city will be celebrating this title.

What is Europe in reality and how can it be shaped by our imaginations? What do we aspire for it to be – beyond politics, economics, and national borders? What will it take to get us there? How, through the metaphor of the pavilion, can we rethink Europe?

A team at Leeds Beckett University has produced, in partnership with another local authority, a user-friendly toolkit that may be of use, or at least a useful reference when planning events (big or small).

France and the Czech Republic are the countries that in 2028 will indicate the European capital of culture. The cities in shortlist are Czech Republic: Broumov and Budejovice; for France: Rouen, Bourges, Clermont-Ferrand, Montpellier.
