The final concept is the result of a long-term, participatory planning process between the local community and cultural actors. The call for further projects is currently ongoing until September 30, 2021.
Project submission and selection
Projects can be submitted using the submission form until September 30, 2021. The form offers helpful pointers with reference to the criteria catalogue, which is based on the EU requirements for European Capitals of Culture.
The criteria catalogue contains, among others, the following points:
- The submitted project idea must be related to at least one of the 4 programme lines or to the overall programme concept, as outlined in the Application Manual of the European Capital of Culture Salzkammergut.
- Project proposals must reference the European dimension. This can mean that European cooperation partners are involved in the project, or that a Europe-wide or internationally relevant topic is dealt with.
- Ecological and social sustainability must be taken into account in all project plans.
- The project should have a lasting impact.
- The project must promote the connection between people and organisations. Strong networks and partnerships are to be established and consolidated through sustainable community building.
- The target groups addressed by and invited to participate in the project must be as diverse as possible.
- Concerns relating to sustainable tourism must be taken into account.
- The project budget should be feasible and proportional in relation to the overall budget, and should be plausible in terms of the project content
- The project sponsors must be able to guarantee their ability to implement the project.
The ECoC Bad Ischl – Salzkammergut Company sifts through all project proposals according to the criteria catalogue. All submitted proposals are checked and evaluated for feasibility and programme content. The process of project selection and programme development will take several months. They will contact the project managers in due course to clarify questions regarding individual criteria.
