But it is not yet possible to know which cities in the Slovak Republic have decided to apply. The Government, in fact, has decided to postpone the deadline for submitting candidacies from 31 October 2020 to 15 December 2020. While for Finland the cities of Oulu, Savonlinna and Tampere have applied.

In 2026, the Slovak Republic will host the title of European Capital of Culture (ECOC). This prestigious title will be shared in 2026 by two cities from two European Union (EU) Member States: one Slovak and one Finnish.
