In the last days, the European Capitals and Regions of Europe of 2024 officially handed over their titles to the European Capitals of Culture of 2025. Bad Ischl Salzkammergut (Austria), Bodø (Norway) and Tartu (Estonia) passed on the title to the ECoCs of 2025 Chemnitz (Germany) and Nova Gorica/Goricia on the Slovenian-Italian border.
In a cross-border extravaganza spanning Slovenia and Italy, Nova Gorica and Gorizia gear up to kick off the countdown to GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture on Thursday, February 8, 2025. The day promises a whirlwind of events and initiatives without boundaries, mirroring the spirit of cultural unity these sister cities aim to foster.

On a day of great significance for European cultural promotion, GO!2025, the future European Capital of Culture, made its international debut in Paris, at a special event organised at the House of Slovenia in the Parc de la Villette.
In the past days Culture Minister Asta Vrečko and Nova Gorica Mayor Samo Turel signed an agreement under which an additional EUR 3 million will be allocated to the institute running the Slovenian part of the 2025 European Capital of Culture project, which will be hosted jointly by Nova Gorica and Italy's Gorizia.
