The international capacity-building forum Kultuurikompass "How to change the world through environmentally friendly cultural management?" will be held on 28 April in Tartu, European Capital of Culture 2024. The forum will take place on April 28 at 1pm at the Estonian National Museum and will be broadcast on the Tartu 2024 website and social media channels. Triin Pikk, Earth Programme Line Manager Tartu 2024, wrote opinion piece „Environmentally friendly Culture – Utopia or Already Happening?“ to support the event.

Tartu with Southern Estonia is the European Capital of Culture in 2024. Tartu 2024 is guided by the artistic concept Arts of Survival. These are the knowledge, skills, and values that will help everyone lead a good life in the future. Tartu and Southern Estonia’s goal is to share these values with and to learn more from Europe.

The international forum Kultuurikompass: ”How To Change The World Through Environmentally Friendly Cultural Management?” returns on April 28. The major event taking place at the Estonian National Museum explores how cultural management practices can be made more environmentally friendly and have a positive impact on society.

European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 celebrated the birth of its programme in Tartu with an Ice Rave. The residents of Tartu and the organisers of the events gathered on the skating rink in Town Hall Square, where the energetic and unpredictable band REDEL gave a wild concert from the windows of the former dental clinic. This was followed by the audiovisual band OOPUS premiering their new track ‘Maailma loomine’, after which DJ Kersten Kõrge closed the night with pulsating rave music.

The call for proposals is open, i.e. applications can be submitted from 1 January to 3 April 2022. The aim of the call for proposals is to support the implementation of international cultural projects interpreting the concept of the Arts of Survival of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 in the years 2023–2024.
