How was Elefsina transformed from “a town where passers-by look the other way”* into a European Capital of Culture (ECoC), setting new standards for the country’s cultural heritage? After Elefsina, which city will be the next Greek Capital of Culture? Is every city a potential Capital of Culture? Are there intermediate stages?

From 3 to 16 July, Eleusis, European Capital of Culture 2023 will be the host of Veszprem 2023 with a series of cultural and artistic activities that will tell the story of the Greek city's past, present and future.

The 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture continues into the summer with an engaging curation of site-specific performances, interdisciplinary art projects, and imaginative exhibits.

The 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents on 1st June the Mystery 127 Horses in Love by the En Dynamei Ensemble, directed by Eleni Efthymiou. The performance – a manifesto about love, with the participation of young artists with and without disabilities, after its great journey in the most important national festivals, and its European tour, is coming to the Open Theatre of the Old Oil Mill Factory of Elefsina for a single performance.

2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture presents the new project of internationally acclaimed artist, Euripides Laskaridis, entitled Mystery 108 KAMARES.
