There are 39 Capitals of Culture around the world. Once again this year, Steve Green, one of the leading experts on this subject and a former member of the panel assessing the European Capitals of Culture, has published his report for the ninth consecutive year, drawing up a complete map of the cities that will have this title in 2025.

Culture Next Cities Network is setting up formal membership for interested cities for the term 2023-2024. They are looking for 23 European cities, current or former ECoC candidates, awarded with the title or not, to officially join the network.

All European countries participate in the European Capital of Culture competition. Some countries have also activated the national competition for cities of culture. The latest is France as we have told here. By the end of the month they will choose the French city, capital of culture for 2022.
