Following the successful launch of the Mediterranean Capitals of Culture and Dialogue initiative in Alexandria and Tirana in 2025, Matera (Italy) and Tétouan (Morocco) have been designated as the Mediterranean Capitals of Culture and Dialogue for 2026.

Building on the momentum of the first edition, the programme continues to strengthen intercultural dialogue by bringing together artists, cultural practitioners, civil society organisations, local authorities, and communities from across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Under the title Euro-Med to Med-Capital: Matera & Tétouan Edition 2026, the year-long programme transforms both cities into vibrant spaces of cultural exchange through performances, participatory workshops, exhibitions, storytelling experiences, artistic residencies, community-led initiatives, and intercultural encounters. Co-created with local and international partners, the programme celebrates the rich diversity of Mediterranean cultures while fostering dialogue, creativity, and lasting people-to-people connections between June to August 2026.

Tetouan

On 14 July 2026 at the Modern Art Centre Tetouan, we will participate in Euro-Med to Med-Capital: The Tetouan Edition. We're turning the city into a meeting point of culture, creativity, and dialogue.

An established format by Polysonica, with a sensory journey curated by Ipologica and produced by Brain Community and Polysonica, Sound Bites transforms an art space into a responsive audio-visual environment. This international edition, thanks to the support of Association Coexistence de la Culture et de l'Art, establishes a distinct cultural bridge, bringing a contemporary Euro-Med perspective into the Modern Art Centre in Tetouan. Visitors will discover a new space, centered around sensory storytelling, Euro-Med cuisine , and food culture.

Using wireless headphones, bespoke sound design, and live narrative guidance, the performance leads a limited group of guests through a structured tasting sequence within the art space. Gestures and culinary preparation are captured and processed in real time using specialized audio techniques, turning the physical sounds of food, textures, and movement into an essential part of the acoustic journey.
