Thursday 25 February 2021. at 7 pm in the Rijeka Filodrammatica Gallery the "Red School" exhibition by the famous Croatian writer, essayist and translator Dubravka Ugrešić will be inaugurated.
The exhibition, as part of the Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture program, with texts and visual works, can be visited until 26 March 2021, during the working hours of the Gallery: from Monday to Saturday from 16.00 to 20.00.
There are basically two themes running through the "Red School" exhibition. One is education, through the presentation of the way Ugrešić looks at his growth and his education in the era of socialism from today's perspective.
Through the theme of the red and red five-pointed star, however, the author subtly reacts to public space in Croatia, which she considers invaded by the signs of Nazism and fascism, considering how to demystify that public space.
The organizers of the exhibition are Drugo more (Rijeka) and the Multimedia Institute (Zagreb), while the design of the exhibition is signed by Nina Bačun and Roberta Bratović (OAZA collective) and Ela Meseldžić.
The program is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Rijeka - Department of Culture. The other sea is the beneficiary of financial support from the Kultura nova Foundation.
The exhibition is organized in compliance with all applicable measures and recommendations for the prevention of COVID-19 infection.
