Through co-creation and participation numerous public activities will commence in September 2021. The European Capital of Culture would like to invite the residents of the border region to be a part of the Esch2022 inauguration. This will enable them to help shape the region through their interests and skills, implementing a lasting momentum in the Esch2022 region and beyond.

The European Capital of Culture, Esch2022, is looking for more than 500 volunteers to actively join the large-scale project this year. The Esch2022 project team launched the invitation on its website under the campaign title "Become a REMIXER".

Esch2022 comprises around 140 projects; about half of these have a special component for children and teens or offer this young demographic a lot of exciting things to discover. At a breakfast press conference in the Cultural Centre Schungfabrik in the commune of Kayl-Tetingen, the Esch2022 team and their project partners presented some of these projects.

We asked managers of the European capitals of culture from 2022 to 2025, five same questions to understand their expectations in a clear and concise way. Each interview is preceded by a fact sheet on that European capital of culture. The format is the same for all. At the end of the series of interviews we will try to make a synthesis of objectives, trends, expectations by the ecocs. After Novi Sad 2022 today we talk about Esch-Sur-Alzette, European Capital of culture 2022.

In the run-up to Esch-Alzette’s term as European Capital of Culture (Esch2022), several exhibitions are now being held at Annexe22 in Esch’s “Brillplaz”. This is where Luxembourg artists present their work and installations to local residents and visitors. Sali Muller’s video installation “Wenn die Sterne vom Himmel fallen” (When the Stars Fall from the Sky) will be open until 12 June.
