In 2022, Esch2022 will share the title of European Capital of Culture with Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania, and Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. To promote this triangular relationship and highlight their common values, the three cities have launched a series of programmes and collaborations that will be presented, among others, as part of their respective opening ceremonies.

The just-completed evaluation by the independent team of evaluators of the Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Sciences of the University of Novi Sad showed that the Kaleidoscope of Culture keeps getting better ratings from audiences each year.

Happy, angry, sad, mystical, with strands of colourful hair, red round noses and hilarious shoes – what kind of associations do you have? The clown is one of the most authentic theatrical styles, in which the actor does not have tricks in the bag that he can rely on, but is alone, naked with his peculiarity that explodes.

The ’Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project was shortlisted for the European Trend Brand of the Year 2021 at the upcoming European Cultural Brand Awards, which will be awarded for the sixteenth time in Dresden, on 11 November 2021.

After twelve years of anticipation, the official title of European Capital of Culture is back in Lithuania. The country’s second-largest city Kaunas and the surrounding Kaunas district are ready to become one big European stage next year – the grand opening is scheduled for January 22, 2022.
