Braga 27 has opened a call for artistic projects to be included in the cultural programme of the city's bid for the European Capital of Culture 2027. The call addresses cultural operators, institutions, and artists in the Euroregion of North of Portugal - Galicia and will take place between the 1st and 30th of June. If the city receives the title, the selected projects will be part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2027. 

Project proposals must fit within the concept of Braga's candidacy – Time for Contemplaction – and should be aligned with its vision and artistic programme.

The European Commission has stipulated that, in 2027, a city in Portugal and another in Latvia will be European Capitals of Culture. 12 Portuguese cities submitted their Bid Books in November last year. After analyzing the Bid Books and each city audition, the international jury announced, on March 11 2022, the shortlisted cities that move on to the final stage: Braga, Aveiro, Évora and Ponta Delgada. The decision on which Portuguese city will host this initiative is announced in December 2022. In Latvia it is already known that the city of Liepāja will be the European Capital of Culture 2027.
