Music producers, DJs, soundsystems and visual artists across Europe and Japan join forces this fall at SABOTAGE 2021. Just to showcase some of the best live performances, DJ sets, new media art installations and to share knowledge through lectures, documentaries and workshops, in a converted tram depot called MultipleXity, in Timisoara, Romania.
We asked managers of the European capitals of culture from 2022 to 2025, five same questions to understand their expectations in a clear and concise way. Each interview is preceded by a fact sheet on that European capital of culture. The format is the same for all. At the end of the series of interviews we will try to make a synthesis of objectives, trends, expectations by the Ecocs. After Novi Sad 2022, Esch2022, Kaunas2022 , Veszprem2023 and 2023 Elefsina today we talk about Timisoara, European Capital of culture 2023.
Light, a metaphor of life and rebirth. But also energy, fire, heat. Perhaps, for these reasons, many European capitals of culture have chosen to dedicate a space of their activities to this theme. Individual actions and artistic works, chapters, but also entire bidbooks are dedicated to light. Let's take a look at some of them.
How will the future be? what legacy will the European capital of culture leave behind? Timisoara 2023 has tried to answer these questions during a meeting held in recent days.
Due to the effects of the coronavirus crisis, the European Commission has today proposed to give Rijeka (Croatia) and Galway (Ireland) the possibility to extend their year as 2020 European Capitals of Culture until 30 April 2021. The Commission also proposes to postpone the year in which Novi Sad (Serbia) is due to host a European Capital of Culture from 2021 to 2022 and the year in which Timisoara (Romania) and Elefsina (Greece) will hold the title from 2021 to 2023.
