It is an honour to have participated these days in the meeting organised by Eu Japan fest in Tokyo to present some of the most interesting Japanese artists to all the European capitals of culture.
As you can see from the picture, ecocnews also had the opportunity to present itself once again to the European capitals of culture. Representing this newspaper, which is the first and only one in Europe to report on what is happening in the cities applying to become European capital of culture and those that have become one, was Alberto Giordano, EcocNews' head of international relations.
During the focus dedicated to our newspaper, starting from the experience of Matera 2019, Alberto illustrated the objectives of EcocNews, created to give a voice to cities interested in culture as an engine to improve the lives of citizens.
Online since February 2021, still in the midst of the pandemic, EcocNews in the course of these three years of life has become a real point of reference for all those working in the cultural sector in Europe. Over the course of these three years, EcocNews has published some fifty calls for artists and cultural operators, and some thirty interviews with experts in the field to better understand what direction this European Capital of Culture competition should take.
Indeed, 2033, the year in which the first cycle will end, is getting closer and closer. And an important date will be next year, when the 40th anniversary of the European Capital of Culture will be celebrated.
It seems that Chemnitz, which will be European Capital of Culture in 2025 together with Nova Gorica, is organising a big event to celebrate this date, as EcocNews had timidly suggested in this article.
Now we do not know how, when and with whom this event will be organised. But EcocNews will be there to tell all about it, without compromise and in complete freedom.
In Tokyo, Alberto also pointed out the possibility of collaboration between EcocNews and the European capitals of culture. Some have already joined. We look forward to others, knowing that our work is only driven by our passion for culture, for European multiculturalism.
