Sharing the imagination
Montpellier 2028 sets itself this objective: to put the link at the centre of its reflection in order to think about contemporary challenges and use the leverage of culture to respond to them. Convinced that artistic creation and culture are powerful vectors for connection, 145 municipalities have chosen to join forces today, to build a new shared narrative. In this way they are creating a true platform for culture, at the service of a common future desirable on the scale of their territory and on a European scale.
3 concepts, 3 artistic axes
Through the concepts CONNECT, ACT, CELEBRATE and the artistic axes. The water that connects us, Future in series, Trans? the M28 programme reflects the challenges and and horizons of the bid.
In 3 concepts and 3 axes, the artistic project resonates with this ambition. It is also the guiding thread of the programme, the result of the second call for projects by the association Montpellier 2028 - European Capital of culture under whose aegis the local authorities that are partners in the bid are united. Thanks to a common budget and an unprecedented approach the 35 winning projects selected by them will permeate the entire entire M28 territory and bring it to life the whole year in the colours of the bid.
It will be possible to discover how this link has been in three components. Firstly, the link with the area and the territory, with projects covering the entire bid area, sometimes even simultaneously. Secondly, the link with time and the future, thanks to projects carried out by students in heritage sites cultural heritage, such as the Faculty of Medicine, or projects aimed at children to build the audience of tomorrow.
Finally, the link with others, through proposals that use intangible heritage as social and festive cement, or projects that promote cooperation between local artists international artists and local residents. From North America (Canada) to Africa (Morocco and Cameroon), as well as in the European Union European Union (Austria, Belgium, Spain, Czech Republic...), this dense and eclectic programme will go beyond borders to take their wishes for the future with them.
