On Wednesday, 4 February, the fifth meeting of the Liepāja 2027 Supervisory Board took place at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, where key issues regarding the progress, achievements and next steps of the European Capital of Culture programme were discussed.

The Évora 2027 Association informs that the application deadline for the open calls “A Nossa Vez / Our Turn” — aimed at artists, associations and cultural agents from the Alentejo — and “O Nosso Laboratório / Our Lab” — open to international artists and cultural organisations — has been extended by three weeks, until the 31st January 2026, with the aim of encouraging broader participation and strengthening the overall quality of the applications.

The coastal city of Saida, capital of the South Lebanon governorate, and the Spanish city of Cordoba have been designated as the two Mediterranean capitals of culture and dialogue for 2027, a decision approved by the foreign ministers of the 43 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) during its annual forum in Barcelona on November 28th.

The Évora 2027 Association announces the open call “O Nosso Laboratório / Our Lab”, designed to enrich the artistic and cultural programme of Évora_27 – European Capital of Culture, by promoting cultural diversity through the participation of international creators. With a total budget of €2.000.000, up to 38 projects will be selected.

In 2027, Evora, Portugal, will be the European Capital of Culture together with the Latvian city Liepaja. To strengthen its cultural program, the Evora '27 association has launched two open calls.
