From 7 to 11 August 2021, in Marconia di Pisticci (Matera - Italy), the 22nd edition of Lucania Film Festival will feature a rich parterre of guests. Following the announcement in the last few days about Abel Ferrara’s participation as very special guest, the event, curated by Allelammie Cultural Association, will also feature Franco Arminio, Luca Manfredi and Boss Doms.

Director Luca Manfredi, the son of great Nino Manfredi, is the author and director of the documentary “Uno, nessuno, cento Nino” (One, No One and One Hundred Ninos) and the author of the book “Un friccico ner core. I 100 volti di mio padre Nino” (A Heartthrob. The Hundred Facets of My Father Nino, Rai Libri Publisher). He will remember the important figure of his father both as an artist and as a husband, father and grandfather, in eternal conflict with his weakness and shortcomings. On the occasion of the centenary of Nino Manfredi’s birth, this intimate and moving portrait accents one of the greatest masters of Italian comedy together with Alberto Sordi, Ugo Tognazzi and Vittorio Gassman.

Poet and landscape expert Franco Arminio will attend the Festival to present his latest book, “Lettera a chi non c’era. Parole dalle terre mosse” (Letter to Those Who Were Absent: Words from the Moving Lands, Bompiani Publisher), thus bringing poetry to the general public in the region once again and giving his words as torches that enlighten the present.

Again this year Lucania Film Festival aims at offering a wide selection of film works in competition (45) from over 3,000 short and feature films received from all over the world. Besides their usual screening, they will be live audio narrated for the blind in the dedicated slot “Cinema bendato” (Blindfolded Cinema). The entrance is also reserved to sighted people who will be invited to use blindfolds and to benefit from live audio drama of the film works in competition.

The 22nd edition of LFF will also pay a tribute both to Dante Alighieri, for the 700th anniversary of his death, and to Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine composer born hundred years ago, with the concert “DanTango”, an excellent performance mixing literature, dancing and music.

There will be plenty of previews about Abel Ferrara, cinema trails, masterclasses, lectio magistralis, as well as exhibitions, labs and workshops that will be presented in the next few days, together with “Piccolissima”, a parallel programme for under-18 youngsters of LFF.

Eagerly awaited is the signature of the agreement with The National Museum of Cinema of Turin for the great exhibitions in small towns of Basilicata.

Always attentive to green issues, Lucania Film Festival will also host a sartorial and creative exchange workshop organised by Atomico Fest, for the general public of the festival, in order to show the potentials of reuse and recycling of material and products, as well as the impact of sustainable and circular economy.

Last but not least, the land space of TILT CinePark, the spectacular set “LumiFieno”, will welcome the versatile artists including accordionist Alessandro D’Alessandro and DJ Boss Doms.
