From Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 July, Open Sound Festival 2023 arrives in Matera, European capital of culture for 2019. This is the concrete representation of the idea of Land Music Experience that characterises the Open Sound project identity: a rigorous investigation of the soundscape that meets sensitivity for new forms of expression, the courage of innovation that meets the ancestral power of origins. This is the leitmotif of an unmissable lineup that brings internationally renowned artists to some of the most iconic venues in the City of the Sassi.

Open Sound is one of the Matera 2019 legacy projects.

On the bill, among others, three big names will be on stage on the same evening, Friday 7 July, when the Parco del Castello Tramontano welcomes the sound of world techno legend Jeff Mills with keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary in 'The Paradox', the Nu Genea (live band) who continue to thrill prestigious festivals and clubs around the world, and the duo C'Mon Tigre who work with international musicians combining tradition and experimentation.

The programme will be completed - on 6 and 8 July - with the suggestions of Ninos Du Brasil, Elasi and OSA 2.3 Reliving Lucania, the new performance by Open Sound presented exclusively during the Matera festival. To host the shows and DJ sets, the rocky cavities of three exclusive, limited-capacity locations, namely Casa Cava, Museo Nazionale di Matera (Terrazza Lanfranchi) and Eco Verticale, which provide the ideal setting for the best experience of a festival spread among locations united by the colour of tuff.

Tickets can be purchased  here at and seat availability for 6 and 8 July is limited due to the capacity of the locations.
