Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Collegiate Shag and Jazz Dance are some of the swing dances that, together with the Blues, will animate the Ionian coast (near Matera, European Capital of culture 2019) from 18 to 26 August 2024 at Policoro in Swing, an international festival of swing music and dance now in its tenth edition.

A boutique festival in two unique and immersive locations, which from Basilicata looks to the sound of tomorrow. From 27 July to 3 August, Open Sound Festival returns to Matera, European Capital of Culture in 2019, and to the Pollino National Park, also in the Basilicata region, with James Holden, Bombino, Venerus (dj set), Thru Collected, Fossick Project (Marta Del Grandi & Cecilia Valagussa), Vladimir Ivkovic, Paolo Angeli and other names.

In the last few days, Culture Next organised in Bielsko Biala, one of the four cities on the short list to become the European capital for Poland in 2029 (the others are Lublin, Katowice, Kołobrzeg) an interesting international symposium on the topic of branding European capitals of culture and communication.

' Borderlines. From Turner to Monet to Hopper. Song with Variations", is the title of the exhibition curated by Marco Goldin, which proposes itself as the flagship event of "GO! 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia, European Capital of Culture", whose theme it interprets. It will be hosted in the totally renovated spaces, suitable for exhibitions of international level, of the Esedra di Levante of Villa Manin, in Passariano di Codroipo (Udine).

Join they for two days of practical workshops on attracting and developing audiences. They look forward to welcoming Kurzeme culture professionals who are involved in organising events for young audiences, attracting new audiences, and developing audience strategies on a daily basis.

#artbloomsinmay is the motto of the events that will take place in Lublin from May 9th through 29th. Over this period Lublin, along with 12 European partners and 4 cities participating in the CreArt3.0 project, will build a creative space for artistic activities.

Can all of Europe fit in the commercial centre of Larnaka? How could the area become the common ground where all the European cities that have been European Capitals of Culture (ECoC) since the establishment of this very important cultural institution, the longest in the EU, meet? "Airfare - Digital Pathways for Cultural Innovation" is the winning project of the Public Notice TOCC (Digital Transition Cultural and Creative Organisations) Action A1 of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of Italian Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, presented by the BAD (Basilicata Digital Academy) network composed of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation (lead partner), Matera Municipality, Confapi Matera, CNA Matera, ITS Academy Foundation of Basilicata.

 Last week the annual General Committee meeting of Eu Japan Fest was held in Tokyo, the non-governmental organization that has supported the exchange between Japanese and European cultures since over thirty years by collaborating with the European Capitals of Culture.

While in Italy the city of youth, Potenza, in Basilicata, the same region as Matera, European Capital of Culture in 2019, has just been named, in the rest of Europe work is underway to name the European capital of youth for 2027.

2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture organises for the first time on 29 and 30 March, at the Elefsina Old Oil Mill Factory, the conference “Narrative Archaeology | Performance in archaeological sites and excavation of human experience.” This two-day meeting takes place in the framework of the composite art activity Mystery 20 Performing Arts Initiator – Narrative Archaeology, with the aim of promoting an interdisciplinary dialogue between Arts and Archaeology.

In the last few days the Open Culture Volunteers Association has turned three years old, having been founded in February 2021 after Matera 2019.

Although winter temperatures are low, these are very warm days for two Swedish cities: Kiruna, above the Arctic Circle, and the university city Uppsala, in central Sweden. They are the only two Swedish cities that have decided to compete for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2029.
