For every euro spent by a cultural tourist in Matera, 1.85 were activated (+ 185%), for every euro invested directly in cultural productions there was a return of 2 € (+ 200%); against an investment in the supply chain most closely linked to cultural production (51% of the resources invested), other economic sectors (49% of the resources) have been stimulated and introduced into the process of creating cultural value.

These are just some of the data collected through the monitoring and evaluation activity conducted by the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation on the results of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019. A collective project officially launched ten years ago with the birth of the Promoting Committee of the candidacy, in July of 2011, and which involved various subjects at various levels, from institutions to citizens, from artists to volunteers, from the creative scene to businesses and media, at an international, national and local level.

The results of the evaluation studies, carried out by some of the leading experts in the sector at national and international level, will be illustrated on April 19 at 11:00 in the streaming meeting "Matera 2019, a field of challenges".
