Structured across two cycles, the programme combined expert lectures, practical learning, workshops, mentoring and collaborative project development, creating a space for participants to exchange knowledge and explore contemporary approaches to cultural management.

The first cycle focused on the management of music events and festivals, in line with Nikšić’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Music. Music editor and programme editor at the Belgrade Youth Centre Dragan Ambrozić and music critic Zorica Kojić shared their professional experience with participants, covering the different stages of organising concerts and festivals – from developing concepts and selecting artists to production, communication with audiences, promotion and evaluation. The theoretical sessions were complemented by a practical experience at Lake Fest, where participants attended the soundcheck of Nouvelle Vague band. Working directly in a festival environment enabled them to gain insight into the production process, artist coordination, technical preparation and the various organisational activities that take place behind a live performance.

The second cycle expanded the programme towards contemporary cultural management, international cooperation, partnerships and the development of cultural projects. Held at IEC Tehnopolis in Nikšić, it brought together participants from diverse professional and institutional backgrounds.Through sessions led by Sjoerd Bootsma the long-standing Artistic Director of Arcadia, the legacy cultural programme of Leeuwarden–Friesland European Capital of Culture 2018, Vuk Radulović and Sara Vuletić the leading international experts on European Capital of Culture projects, participants explored European cultural practices, international cooperation and the implementation of large-scale cultural projects.

Particular attention was given to the practical development of project ideas based on the Nikšić 2030 Bid Book. Using the ECoC Canvas methodology, participants worked in groups to transform ideas into strategically structured and sustainable cultural projects, while considering their potential long-term impact on the local community. The programme also provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges of contemporary cultural management, professional development, international collaboration and the role of a new generation of cultural professionals in shaping the future of Nikšić’s cultural sector.

The second cycle concluded with final mentoring sessions, practical work, the exchange of experiences and the awarding of certificates to participants.

Through Open College, Nikšić 2030 continues to invest in knowledge-sharing, professional development and new networks within the cultural sector, contributing to a stronger and more sustainable cultural ecosystem in the years leading up to 2030.
