The “European Capitals of Culture Day at the Universal Exhibition 2020 Dubai” is an initiative that Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation is organising on the 30th October 2021 in the Italy Pavilion at the Expo of Dubai, in partnership with the Commissioner General of Italy and under the patronage of the European Commission.

Starting 25thSeptember, the Luxembourgish artist Justine Blau presents her project “I am a part of a landscape” at Annexe22 in Esch’s “Brillplaz”. From 25 September to 20 November 2021, the project will be on display in Pavillon Annexe22. Thanks to the glazed front of the cube on the "Brillplaz", visitors have access to the artwork during the day and during the night.
Band rehearsals, concerts, DJ sets, and BBQs. Trenčín’s skatepark community of skaters, bikers, scooter riders and youth in general can use a fully equipped garage for music and other events. This project that supports Trenčín’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture creates opportunities for specific city communities to organise their own needs-based cultural programme. Garage opened on 25 September with music performances by rapper Gleb and the Trenčín bands Fraktúra, Cherry Street and Fyasco.
True North' is a filmed live-performance for future streaming release with new music from a-ha. Set in the awesome landscape of Northern Norway and recorded in the town of Bodø up above the Arctic Circle, the music from the film will be made available as a new album from the group for the first time since 'Cast in Steel’ (2015).

After participating in the Ars Electronica Festival for the first time in 2020 Esch2022 is again contributing to the international event with a new project “From red earth to grey matter” is a video documenting the ongoing collaborative work of Esch2022 with leading institutions ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, HEK (House of Electronic Arts) and Ars Electronica in the planning and delivery of three ambitious exhibition projects and diverse programmes of events. The Culture Summit is organized by the world organisation of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) to guarantee the place of culture in global debates on sustainable development and to encourage networking, peer-learning and the sharing of good practices between cities and local governments from across the world.
